The oil extracted from the seeds of the Evening Primrose by cold pressing is extremely rich in Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs). It contains 72% of Linoleic Acid and 10% of Gamma Linolenic Acid. These are the precursors of prostaglandins, substances that influence the menstrual cycle. Recent clinical studies have shown that Evening Primrose oil taken during the second half of the cycle clearly reduces pre-menstrual syndrome, working on all its different symptoms: depression, irritability, tenderness of the breasts, abdominal pains, water retention and headaches (cephalagia). These convincing results cannot be ignored by those who continuously suffer with this problem. When taken regularly, Evening Primrose oil is also beneficial for the heart as Gamma Linolenic Acid regularises cholesterol levels and blood pressure.
